Location Management
Locations help you organize your digital screens by their physical placement. Learn how to create and manage locations effectively.
Overview
Locations allow you to:
- Organize devices by physical location
- Group devices for easier management
- Filter and search by location
- Assign location-specific content
- Generate location-based reports
- Manage multi-site deployments
Accessing Locations
Navigate to Locations from the sidebar menu to view all your locations.

Location List View
Location Information
Each location displays:
- Location Name: Name of the location
- Address: Physical address (if available)
- Device Count: Number of devices at this location
- Status: Overall location status
- Actions: Menu for location operations

Creating a Location
To create a new location:
- Click the "Add Location" or "Create Location" button
- Fill in the location form:
- Location Name: Descriptive name
- Address: Physical address (optional)
- Description: Additional details (optional)
- Contact Information: Manager or contact (optional)
- Click "Create" or "Save"

Naming Best Practices
Use clear, consistent naming:
- ✅ Good: "Main Office - Downtown"
- ✅ Good: "Retail Store - Mall Location"
- ✅ Good: "Warehouse - Building A"
- ❌ Avoid: "Location1", "Store", "Office"
Editing Locations
To modify a location:
- Click on a location, or
- Click Actions → Edit
- Modify any fields
- Click "Save Changes"

Assigning Devices to Locations
When registering a device, you'll select a location:
- Go to Devices → Register
- Fill in device information
- Select Location from dropdown
- Complete registration
You can also change a device's location:
- Go to Devices
- Click on a device
- Edit device details
- Change Location dropdown
- Save changes

Viewing Location Details
To see details about a location:
- Click on a location name
- View location information
- See all devices at this location
- View location-specific statistics

Location-Based Filtering
Use locations to filter content:
Filter Devices by Location
- Go to Devices page
- Use location filter (if available)
- Select a location
- View only devices at that location

Filter Other Content
Locations can help organize:
- Playlists by location
- Schedules by location
- Analytics by location
- Reports by location
Location Hierarchy
For complex organizations, you can create hierarchies:
- Building → Floor → Room
- Region → City → Store
- Campus → Building → Department

Organization Strategy
- Geographic: Organize by physical location
- Functional: Group by department or purpose
- Hierarchical: Use parent-child relationships
- Consistent: Use consistent naming conventions
Naming Conventions
Establish a naming standard:
- Format: "Type - Name - Identifier"
- Examples:
- "Office - Main Building - Floor 2"
- "Retail - Mall Location - Store 5"
- "Warehouse - Distribution Center - Dock A"
Device Assignment
- Assign devices immediately during registration
- Update locations when devices move
- Keep location information current
- Verify device locations regularly
Location Analytics
View location-based statistics:
- Device counts per location
- Online/offline status by location
- Content performance by location
- Usage patterns by location

Bulk Location Operations
For managing multiple locations:
- Export location list
- Bulk edit location information
- Assign multiple devices to location
- Generate location reports

Deleting Locations
To delete a location:
- Click Actions → Delete
- Confirm deletion
- Location will be removed
Warning: Ensure no devices are assigned to the location, or reassign them first.

Location Templates
Create location templates for common setups:
- Standard office locations
- Retail store locations
- Warehouse locations
- Multi-site configurations

Troubleshooting Locations
Location Not Appearing
If location doesn't appear:
- Refresh the page
- Check if location was created successfully
- Verify permissions
- Contact administrator
Devices Not Showing Under Location
If devices don't appear:
- Verify device location assignment
- Check device filters
- Refresh device list
- Verify location name matches
Cannot Delete Location
If deletion fails:
- Check for assigned devices
- Reassign devices to other locations
- Try deletion again
- Contact administrator if issues persist
Multi-Site Management
For organizations with multiple sites:
- Create location for each site
- Assign site managers
- Set site-specific content
- Generate site reports

- Device inventory by location
